Bandon Public Library
Patrons Your Library Serves:
What was your first library job?
I was a Page in high school.
Why are you proud to be a librarian?
As a Librarian, I help more people than even teachers, doctors, lawyers, police officers, fire fighters, etc.
How do you stay inspired?
Children! There is always a new generation to “train” and to encourage the love of learning in all forms.
Describe your best day at the library. What made it memorable?
A mother came into the library I then worked at and marched up to me and said, ‘thank you.’
What are your favorite Demco products? (Oldies but goodies and newbies welcome.)
If the sky were the limit, what would you do at your library?
Enlarge the Young Adult section, create a craft and education room and add a full-time Children’s Librarian & full-time Young-Adult Librarian, and work closer with the schools. Not to mention buy more books, DVDs, CDs, and magazines and have many more programs.
How do you envision your library in 2025?
Busier, more hands-on for the patrons. Patron driven programs, more programs, the hub of the community.
What’s the best piece of advice you have for your fellow librarians?
Keep your mind open, even at 62, I learn something new every day and find new ways to do things. Try everything, don’t be afraid.
