Patrons Your Library Serves:
What was your first library job?
As a volunteer, I read stories to the children at my neighborhood library, Baldwin Hills, CA. I caught the library bug being there being around all of those books. I felt right at home! And, of course that lead to me becoming a librarian …
Why are you proud to be a librarian?
Being a librarian in an elementary school is so rewarding because I plant seeds of reading into little people. Bringing a book to life is so much fun. As I look into the faces of the students when I read and or help them find a (good) book, I see the world opening up to them. When a student comes back to visit me after they graduate and they mention a book they remember checking out I can say, ” The seed is still growing.” SO PROUD!
How do you stay inspired?
I would just say the love of a good book, the love of a good story and the love to share a good book keeps me inspired.
What do you do for fun? What’s one thing people wouldn’t guess about you?
I like going to the movies for fun! I also don’t think most people would know that I love to dress up for Halloween.
Describe your best day at the library. What made it memorable?
Watching children interested in GOOD BOOKS!
What are your favorite Demco products? (Oldies but goodies and newbies welcome.)
Label protectors. I do a lot of cataloging …
If the sky were the limit, what would you do at your library?
I would redo the entire library with new furniture, new shelving and labeling and a stadium seating for storytime! Oh, and huge bean bags to sit on.
How do you envision your library in 2025?
Maybe two or three levels with art and soft classical music piped in.
What’s the best piece of advice you have for your fellow librarians?
Have fun and don’t be to ridged.
