Patrons Your Library Serves:
What was your first library job?
I started at the check-out desk in Belleville Public Library.
Why are you proud to be a librarian?
I love to be able to combine my love for books, children and crafts in my daily life and I hope I can make a difference in my community by inspiring children to read.
How do you stay inspired?
I read lots of blogs to find out what other youth services librarians are up to and steal some great ideas.
What do you do for fun? What’s one thing people wouldn’t guess about you?
I love to swim. I often have dreams that I’m swim/flying through the air!
Describe your best day at the library. What made it memorable?
I have had so much fun running programs and doing storytimes. The best days are when all the hard work and planning come together and the kids are having fun and I am enjoying their enthusiasm!
What are your favorite Demco products? (Oldies but goodies and newbies welcome.)
Those little, round stickers that come in all kinds of colors come in handy so often!
If the sky were the limit, what would you do at your library? How do you envision your library in 2025?
A program/creative space where we could easily hold large groups and get a little messy if we wanted to! We would also have lots of cozy spots to read, an awesome teen space, and the whole thing would be made from recycled/reclaimed materials. (Think City Museum of St. Louis!)
What’s the best piece of advice you have for your fellow librarians?
I used to have a teacher who would say “Dumb down and do it!” I always thought that was funny, but I do find that at times it is best not to overthink things but to dive in and have a go.
