Patrons Your Library Serves:
What was your first library job?
My first library job was in Nacogdoches, TX for Brooks Quinn Jones Elementary.
Why are you proud to be a librarian?
I love see students light up when I read a book out loud to them. I love when they come to me all excited about a book they read themselves.
How do you stay inspired?
I stay connected through Twitter. Seeing other librarian’s stories inspire me to be and do better. I also read motivational books personally and about my profession. I am always learning!
What do you do for fun? What’s one thing people wouldn’t guess about you?
I read for fun! But other people would already guess that about me. I also like to make jewelry.
Describe your best day at the library. What made it memorable?
I love when we have author/illustrators visit and the students really connect with them. The next day I love hearing they favorite part and their excitement.
What are your favorite Demco products? (Oldies but goodies and newbies welcome.)
The tape dispensers!
If the sky were the limit, what would you do at your library?
Buy new bookshelves, new tables and chairs and replace all the moldy books.
How do you envision your library in 2025?
We have desktops, iPads®, an ELMO, and a Promethean Board so we’d need to update our technology. I’d like smaller computers like laptops that take up less space.
What’s the best piece of advice you have for your fellow librarians?
Get connected! Build your personal learning network through Twitter. Follow more than just other librarians. There is a wealth of information and educators sharing it. Connect with them!
