Patrons Your Library Serves:
What was your first library job?
I started clerical subbing for our school district, and found the library job the most rewarding. There was always something to do, and reading aloud to a class full of children was just plain fun.
Why are you proud to be a librarian?
I love my job. I am proud to know that my enthusiasm for reading and “book talking” inspires others to read.
How do you stay inspired?
I read a lot and talk to our students about what they’re reading and why.
What do you do for fun? What’s one thing people wouldn’t guess about you?
I love the outdoors and camping. I used to work at a ski shop when I was younger and I love the mountains. Rivers relax me, the ocean disturbs me!
Describe your best day at the library. What made it memorable?
Most of my days are great, but I have to say the most fun I have had was playing Effie Trinket for our Associated Student Body. They’ve read “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins, and I have done the “reaping” from the books for two years now.
What are your favorite Demco products? (Oldies but goodies and newbies welcome.)
I love the clear book jacket rolls. I have used them for 12 years.
If the sky were the limit, what would you do at your library?
I would love to have a video stream of book talks on a big screen and have student friendly seating. I would have new titles hot off the press and twice as many computers and workstations. And a cafe.
How do you envision your library in 2025?
A blend of print and technology, but keeping updated with the technology is key.
What’s the best piece of advice you have for your fellow librarians?
We know that we have the best jobs in the world! Enjoy every day.
